About
Hello, my name is Erik Beck and I am a DIY filmmaker. Many of you may know me through Indy Mogul and in many ways “Father Son Run” is a direct off shoot of all the great things Indy Mogul represents.
Father Son Run is the working title for a documentary I am shooting in early September 2009. On the surface, the film, will follow my father and I as we ride Harley Davidson motorcycles from Fort Collins, Colorado to Brooklyn New York, but I like to think there is a little more to it.
First off I’ve never ridden a motorcycle before. I will be buying “my hog” and getting my license about a week before we leave from Colorado. So there’s that. Another thing you may have noticed is this is an extremely low budget film. We’ll be shooting the entire thing with the (creative use) of consumer production gear and some serious, blood sweat, and tears. I wouldn’t be surprised if we break at least one camera while doing 80 mph down the highway.
But the real story is not how we are making a film on a shoe string budget. The real story is about a father and son finally getting to know each other. I’m not going to bore you with the sob story of our past; that’s not what this film is about. This film is about what happens later, when the father and son are older, and they decide to make up for lost time on the open road.
For this project to work we need a strong community element to this film. Not just with your donations, but also the physical production of the film. If you have a camera and can film us riding through your town I’ll probably put it in the film. You can learn more about helping shoot the film HERE.
Thank you!!!
